From I-84 take Exit 16 onto the northbound Taconic State Parkway. Go about 1.5 miles to the exit for NY Route 52. Go east on Route 52 for 4.3 miles to the point where the AT crosses NY 52. This is about a half mile after NY 52 goes under I-84. There is no parking here, but there is a small parking lot a short distance to the north at the end of a short driveway. (See Mile 7.1 of Section 4.)
If coming from the other direction on NY 52, the crossing is about 0.4 miles beyond the intersection of Leetown Road and NY 52.

This crossing is the official southern terminus of Section 4 and northern terminus of Section 5. To reach this point from the parking area go left along the highway shoulder from the emtramce. In a short distance the southbound AT (from Sec. 4) comes out of the woods from the left, crosses the highway and starts to climb a hill (to Sec. 5). Alternatively one could use the spur from the parking lot and turn right (southbound) on the AT. The marker on the attached map indicates the trail crossing. From I-84 take Exit 16 north onto the Taconic State Parkway. Go about 1.5 miles to the first exit (for NY 52). Turn left onto NY 52 at the end of the ramp. Go 0.4 miles to what I beleive is this first road to the left(Hosner Mt. Road). Follow this. There has been a recent relocation. At a stop sign, Hosner Mt. Road goes left, crosses over the parkway, then goes right on the other side. Eventually it goes under I-84. The AT crossing is 2.3 miles from NY 52.

When I first hiked this section of trail, there were good parking pull-offs near the trail crossing. On a recent visit (June 2007) it was obvious the area has been more developed and while roadside parking is still possible, it is quite limited.The green arrow on the attached map indicates the approximate trail crossing. Northbound is to the east, southbound to the west. 4/17/20

From I-84 take Exit 16 south onto the Taconic State Parkway . Continue to the first exit (Miller Hill Road). The northbound AT joins Miller Hill Road just west of the parkway, crosses under the parkway via an underpass, then goes left on Rockledge Road for a short distance before going right into the woods.

This interchange marks the official south end of NY Section 5 and north end of NT Section 6. There was no obvious parking places anywhere near the trail here. See mile 0.3 of Section 6 for possible parking. See attached map. The southbound AT from Section 5 comes in from the northeast and joins Rockledge road. It then crosses under the Taconic State Parkway on Miller Hill road, then goes left (south) into the woods as Section 6. This area is at the bottom of the map. 4/17/20

Click on the A icon on the attached map and rotate the street view to the north to see Rockledge Road (the road on the right in the view). The northbound trail goes up this road a short distance then goes right into the woods. Click on the B icon and rotate to the southwest to see the southbound route leaving Miller Hill Road on the west side of the Taconic State Parkway. 4/17/20
